How old are you?

-       22 years old.

What do you like to be named as an artist?

-       Ethemos.

Where are you from, and do you think it influences your craft?

-       I’m from France. Yes, as a French person, art has been around me all the time. I always loved going to museums to see art stuff. I’ve been fascinated by that since my childhood. We get access also to different type of fantasy worlds, like video games and books. At a very young age, I loved to escape the real world. Every universe brings me inspiration and influences me.

When did you know you wanted to be a full-time concept artist?

-       During my teenage years. I was more into art than into school. At first, my mum was supportive, but not my dad. When I started to get good at art, he changed his opinion. And when I started to get some recognition. My dad started to realize I could do it. Even tho I di not have his acceptance, I knew I had to go down this path anyway. Because drawing, bringing fantasy and a new world to escape in, was my duty. I feel this, and it makes me happy.

What about concept art make you get up in the morning?

-       I’m still a lazy person. I prefer working at night than in the morning. So, not really, it depends on my schedule!

Who or what is your inspiration for your art?

-       Philip Sue is the artist who influenced me for the first time. He manages to bring me joy about landscape. And I finally found my way, thanks to him. I can talk about Ross draw too, or Sam does Art and many concept artist or illustrator too... Every digital artist brings me inspiration. But also even more video games, Anime, movies, and books. Everything makes me want to draw, particularly fantasy stuff. When I’m outside, too, watching landscapes makes me so happy. It inspires me so much to add in those landscape, more freedom feelings and fantasy touch. It’s important to me to travel through imagination.

What program do you prefer to use for your art?

-       I use Krita, but Clip Studio, Photoshop, or Procreate are very good software.

Do you have any comments about the art piece for Shattered Ice?

I had never drawn something like this before, it was a new experience, and I loved it. The shape language of the mountains was hard, and the artistic direction was original, too. I loved working on it; it challenged me.

Do you have any words for a beginning artist?

-       Don’t give up. We all started somewhere. Don’t be too impatient to become a pro, you will just lose time and hate yourself for not being good. It takes time and training, keep working, and you will gain level much faster than you think. And before proposing your services, gain some levels. So, you will not be disappointed if you get no clients. Go step by step, or you will destroy yourself.

If you could only recommend one book, movie, or series, what would it be?

-       For books, I really recommend The maze runner, there is 4 of them. It’s the first big book series I had in my life. And I fall in love even more for inspiration. For movies, I will say: Legends of the guardians: The Owls of Ga’hoole, Marvels movies, Spirit, Ghibli movies like Princess Mononoke, Interstellar, Dragon, Star wars, Divergent, The maze Runner, Hungers games… And for Series/anime I would say: Arcane, Avatar the last Airbender, Strangers things, Black mirror, One piece, Naruto Shippuden, Haikyu, Attack on Titan..
